Why Fish With Us?

We do this right, or we don't do it at all

Experienced local guide

Born and raised in South Louisiana. I've been fishing these estuaries since I was 9 years old - running Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Borgne since 2000.

& boat

Sportsman 234 Tournament Edition with dual Garmin screens, Minn Kota Spot-Lock, and Power Poles. Top-shelf gear maintained like it's our own. Because it is.

Access to prime fishing

For the past few years, I've dedicated my trips to targeting big trout. I know where they are because I've put in the time - not because an app told me.

" I  went on a fishing charter with Cap. Ben LaVergne with Bent Up Fishing Charter L.L.C. It was an unbelievable trip, big trout caught our limit within 3 hours. Great knowledge, knows the area and waters very well that's fishing with artificial or live bait!!! The man knows what he is doing!!!  If I were y'all I would give Bent Up  a call if y'all are looking for a guide service to show yall a great time and catch a bunch of fish!!!"

Local angler, Louisiana

"Fished with captain Ben quite a few times over the years. His fishing abilities, methods, and confidence have grown tremendously in that time. You can have some good conversations with him while out on the water and learn so much about techniques and reasoning about fishing and conditions. Highly recommend a trip with him"

Larry Henson
Abita Springs, Louisiana

"Took a trip in Lake Pontchartrain with Captain Ben LaVergne with Bent Up Charters and it didn't disappoint. Went throwing artificial in the bridge piling structures and having him to help and teach the proper techniques of how to finesse these fish was one of the better parts of the trip. Plenty of fish and always fun on lures instead of bait. Highly recommend."

Guide

Meet the guide who knows this water

I've been fishing Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Borgne since I was 9 years old. For the past few years, I've focused almost exclusively on big trout - and the results speak for themselves.

But this is more than a fishing trip. I'm also a swamp tour captain, which means you'll get the history of our lakes, marshes, and ecosystems while we fish. Trophy fishing combined with the stories and wildlife that make South Louisiana special.

My boat won't leave the dock for less than $450 - because I take this seriously, and I want you to have an experience worth remembering.

Questions

Everything you need to know before you book your trip with us.

What do I need to bring?

Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate clothing. A valid Louisiana fishing license is required. We provide all rods, tackle, safety gear, and refreshments.

Do you offer trips year-round?

We fish year-round for speckled trout and redfish. Summer months bring tripletail and flounder into the mix. Contact us to discuss the best season for your target species.

What if the weather turns bad?

Safety comes first. We monitor conditions closely and will reschedule your trip if weather becomes unsafe. You'll receive a full refund or credit toward a future charter.

Can beginners fish with you?

Absolutely. I've guided everyone from first-timers to tournament anglers. We'll teach you what you need to know and put you in position to catch fish.

How far from shore do we fish?

We fish Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Borgne, and the surrounding marshes. Most trips stay within 10-15 miles of the dock, depending on where the fish are that day.
